Kommentar: [editieren] | Dienstags 60 Minuten von 13.00 s.t. bis 14.00 zusätzliche Blöcke: 24. / 25.4.2009 29.6.-1.7.2009 Inhalt:Women form over 50% of Ghana’s population and have contributed in diverse ways towards the development of Ghana.Over the years, through systematic education and empowerment programs championed by civil society organisations, women have gradually moved from their traditionally ascribed and gender stereotyped roles into roles as professionals, bread winners and role models. There have been significant transformations in the experiences and positions of women in Ghana’s history since independence till date thus women are no longer located primarily in the reproductive sphere in their domestic roles as caregivers, housewives and homemakers, but have taken on various careers and have chalked enviable successes in their chosen fields. Introduction: aims & objectives - in this course we are going to provide a gender analysis summarising the comparative situation of women in Ghana, with particular reference to their social, economical, legal and political status; - identify the particular needs of women in Ghana in relation to health, education employment, income and consumption: political representation; control over and access to natural and other resources; shelter; physical security; and legal and human rights - Summarise the extent, scope and effectiveness of current government and donor supported projects and programmes specifically aimed at improving the position of women.
