Teilnahmebeschränkung:

Dieses Seminar ist auf 25 TeilnehmerInnen beschränkt. (Lehrauftrag / künstlerische Praxis)

Inhalt:

A 5 day practical workshop exploring the cultural and technical issues involved in producing a commercial dance party. Starting from nothing and ending with a functional party on Saturday 15th Oct we’ll examine in detail: The Music and the DJs - choosing a style for the night and finding appropriate DJs or acts. Also an examination of styles and techniques in contemporary DJ culture within an historical context. Sound equipment - an outline of the technology involved from turntables to speakers The venue - what is required and from the space and what it will cost, including bar, security, times, ticketing and also artistic considerations of lighting and presentation.
Marketing - examining flyer art, printing, posters and online marketing. We will put together a team to deal with all the above areas, examining the cultural resonances and actively putting them into practice for the event.

Prüfungsleistungen bzw. Testat:

Evaluation is in 2 parts with 50/50 weighting.

Mark 1 will be for the practical work. Evaluated on degree of involvement, quality of contribution and progress.

Mark 2 is for documentation. This should consist of 1-3 pages of text in English supported by video, photos or audio. We will collect the documentation as a team on Sunday 16th Oct. Material should be gathered throughout the process but collection should nit be intrusive, especially at the event itself.
