Dieses Seminar ist auf 45 TeilnehmerInnen beschränkt. (The limitation is due to the didactic design of the seminar. The seminar contains group work and a high level of self organized learning.)Inhalt:
Social Work is on the one hand embedded in specific nation state contexts while on the other effected by transnational and global phenomenons and ideas. Especially within the context of the European Union, learning from and working with each other becomes increasingly more important for social work.The aim of the seminar is to get insights on how different national contexts shape the manner social work thinks and acts and look at similarities, too. We do that by presenting and discussing concrete topics of social work with students from the University of Applied Sciences in Den Haag (The Netherlands) and Antwerp (Belgium). We start from the common idea in the international definition that social work is a human rights profession: What contributions does social work make in the various contexts? Can it fulfill the idea, where and how does it violate it, and how can it help make it a reality?
In the preparation of the conference in October and November, some theoretical an empirical bases on how to look at different national context in a globalized world from the angle of social work will be provided. On this base, own statements on a chosen topic of social work will be developed and presented during the conference.
The student conference on 30.11. and 1.12. will be the highlight of the seminar. Organizing and having an active part in the conference is part of the seminar.
A common evaluation on 07.12. completes the seminar.
Empfehlungen zu speziellen Kenntnissen und Bereitschaften:
Don´t be afraid on the English! It will be easy and fun to try, especially when meeting students from abroad. Therefore: Are you curious to get to know more about social work in different countries? Are you interested in discussing and having a good time with social work students from Antwerp and Den Haag? Do you want contribute to the organization of an international event at the Hochschule Düsseldorf? Then choose the seminar to get to know theoretical basics, develop own statements on a chosen topic and be part of an international event.Prüfungsleistungen bzw. Testat:
A presentation of a social work topic in English during the international student conference (10 Minutes pitch in groups of 2-3 people plus a written handout, and a contribution to the organzation of the conference (e.g. an accompainment during a field visit, support in registration process or a contribution to the moderation of the student conference).Basisliteratur:
A list of useful literatur will be provided at the beginning of the seminar.A participation all three elements, the preparation as well as the student conference on 30.11. and 01.12. and its reflection on 07.12. is mandatory to take part in the international seminar. During the preparation, a justified absence of two dates is possible.
Die Teilnahme ist erforderlich, weil folgende Lernziele aus den folgenden Gründen nur mit einer Teilnahme der Studierenden erreichbar sind:
The conference preparation as well as the common activities with the students from abroad (presentations, discussions, visits...) are core element of the seminar.
Versäumte Sitzungen können folgendermaßen ausgeglichen werden:
During the preparation, a justified absence of two dates is possible. Missed sessions cannot be compensated.
Diese Anordnung erfolgt auf Beschluss des Fachbereichsrates.

Wenn Sie im OSSC einen Seminarplatz erhalten haben (in den Masterstudiengängen ggf. abweichende Regelungen beachten) oder wenn der*die Dozent*in Sie nachträglich im Seminar zugelassen hat, müssen Sie sich zusätzlich innerhalb der oben genannten Frist selbst im OSSC zur Prüfung bzw. zum Testat anmelden.
